Alfred Meakin India Tree is a striking example of the Indian Tree design, with deep vibrant colours, which was produced prolifically with variations by many different potteries, the earliest of which was by Coalport in 1809. Indian Tree was manufactured by Alfred Meakin for a number of years.

This is a fine example of a Meakin Teapot – 4 Cup – Date mark for 1937.

Lovely condition, fabulous colours, knob has been repaired.

Alfred Meaakin Ltd was set up in 1875 and operated from the Royal Albert, Victoria, and Highgate Potteries in Tunstall. Alfred Meakin was the brother of James and George Meakin who ran a large pottery company in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.
