‘WETLEY CHINA’ is the trade name of Sampson Smith, manufacturer of fine china at Longton in Staffordshire. c.1846-1963. They produced beautiful hand decorated tea sets typical of the era, this set dates to 1925. The peony shape teacup, with batwing handle, is fully decorated with a solid green band, wild game birds and gilded bows and swags. Pattern #  9283.

Each piece has a different design representing the beautiful golden pheasant.

Lovely condition with a little wear to the gilding, cup has some glaze craze which stops it pinging nicely, priced accordingly.

Mr. Sampson Smith (china manufacturer, Longton, Staffordshire) was represented in London by R. Green & Sons, 31 St. Bride-street, who show samples of all his principal productions in tea and breakfast sets. ‘WETLEY CHINA’ is the trade name used by Sampson Smith for it’s manufacture of fine china.
