Shelley Blue Iris Small Platter

A rare set of bone china made in the Queen Anne shape and hand painted with the blue Iris pattern. It was the most iconic of the floral patterns produced by Shelley in the 1920s for the Queen Anne shape. Lovely hand enamelled blue irises, some open and some as buds on each panel, together with dainty sprays in orange and yellow, the rim lined with blue enamel.

Marked with the green Shelley England factory stamp to base. Pattern # 11561.

This incredibly rare small sized platter was made circa 1930, is a good weight and measures 29 cm x 24 cm.

It is in lovely condition, the white glaze and enamel paints are bright, and there is no crazing.

The collector societies for Shelley china are worldwide, from it’s 1827 inception to the close of the pottery in 1966 it’s china has been a firm favourite in homes. Based in Staffordshire, the pottery crafted thin translucent, yet strong china items in thousands of different patterns, noted by number and sometimes by name.
