Coalport Batwing Demitasse


Rare Victorian tea set from one of England’s oldest potteries, Coalport in Staffordshire. Fine tableware has been made at the factory in Coalbrookdale since 1750. Now highly collectable this delicate coffee cup and saucer are made in the batwing style, the handles have a wing shape. All pieces are hand painted with panels of English flowers on pure white fine china with a cobalt blue border, heavily gilded with scalloped rims.

Demitasse – cup – 5.5 cm x 5 cm tall

Saucer – 11 cm 

Fabulous quality and condition. Age circa 1890s.

There is slight glaze crazing and staining to the back of the saucer only.

This thriving pottery in Coalbrookdale, Staffordshire England produced a variety of tablewares, mostly overglaze decorated in flower designs,  from around 1750 until it’s closure in 1926.
