Haviland & Co. is a manufacturer of Limoges porcelain in France, begun in the 1840s by the American Haviland family importers of porcelain to the US. This 20th century French porcelain Coffee set for six people was made by Haviland for the English china shop Thwaites. Great set ornately decorated with a 22 ct. greek key pattern and full gold handles on each piece.

The set of 14 pieces has the factory stamp for Haviland France. Originally costing hundreds of pounds – today a coffee can and saucer new retail in France at €120.

  • Small bowl similar pattern, made by Hammersley England.
  • One saucer similar pattern, made by Cauldon China England.

Condition is very good, no damage, like new.

Description

In 1842, David Haviland made Limoges, the world capital of porcelain, a cradle of art without limit. He began to write the story of the Haviland family, a name synonymous with the art of French luxury, which has lasted till this day. David Haviland, a trader, created an import company of ceramics and porcelain in 1838 in New York.
