A rare top quality collectors tea set from the early 19th century, made in Paris. This beautiful cobalt blue teacup and saucer have been skilfully hand painted with bouquets of flowers on pure white china, the scalloped edges being heavily gilded. The tea cup is a gorgeous open peony shape with a bean shape handle, the saucer a deeper dish shape, all typical of the 1800s.
Marked on the base of the cup and saucer with the makers puce stamp – W.E.Toy Paris – no.19 rue de la Chaussée-d’Antin .

Superb quality and condition, no damage, a little rubbing to the gilt and factory faults as expected with such an early piece.
