Shelley Corncockle Butter Dish

This rare little dish, originally made as a butter or clotted cream dish for the tea table, is made in a basket weave white bone china and decorated by hand with wild corncockle flowers of blue with pink centers and green stems. The star pointed rim is also edged in blue.

Scalloped edge dish measures 15 cm diameter

Description

The collector societies for Shelley china are worldwide, from it’s 1827 inception to the close of the pottery in 1966 it’s china has been a firm favourite in homes. Based in Staffordshire, the pottery crafted thin translucent, yet strong china items in thousands of different patterns, noted by number and sometimes by name.
