Minton Chinese Tree Cake Plate


19th Century Staffordshire Tea Set with Minton Chinese tree design.

This earthenware tea set was made circa 1820 and is marked with a transfer-printed backstamp { Chinoiserie } and decorated with the Minton chinese tree design. ( From the 1820’s onward, Minton’s earthenware and especially `Felspar’ or `Stone China’ are often marked with a transfer-printed backstamp and, later, with impressed year cyphers ).

The Set is decorated with an early Chinese transfer design in bright enamels on a white ground.  

Square cake plate with decorative moulded rim – 22 cm 

Lovely undamaged condition, fabulous colours. 180 years old. Factory firing crack to the front of the plate – priced accordingly.
