Superb example of a Mid 19th Century cup and Saucer, made by John Ridgway in Staffordshire, England circa 1845.

English fine bone china has been produced at the Staffordshire factory of Ridgway since 1808. The styles are typical for the period, elegant shaped cups, scallop edged rims, with foliate or landscape decoration. All pieces from the factory were hand made and beautifully hand coloured and gilded with 24 ct gold.

A gilded porcelain cup and saucer with a foliate design, the cup with a raised pattern in the porcelain, straight foot base  and a split twist handle. 

Both pieces have a base mark fraction in orange enamel 5/2811.

Cup – 8 cm x 8 cm diameter

Saucer – 14 cm diameter
