Fabulous vintage bone china tea set made by the Staffordshire factory Hammersley. This large cup and saucer set has been hand painted with cherries, strawberries, white and red currants and russet apples. A wide band of gilding has been added to the cup and saucer rim and cup handle. Signed D. Millington.
Marked ” English Fine China ” on base.
Large breakfast cup – 7 cm high x 11 cm diameter.
Saucer – 17 cm diameter.
Lovely condition, no cracks, crazing or chips to the china, a little wear to the gilding.

Hammersley and Co. has a history of producing high quality, finely decorated bone china. The company began in 1862 as a china manufacturer at Longton, Stoke-on-Trent and went through several name changes before the works finally closed in 1982. The Hammersley name was sold to Aynsley in 1989.
