Rare Shelley Tea for Two

An extremely rare Shelley tea set for two people. Made in the Oxford shape and decorated with a lovely blue floral pattern with blue bands.

The pieces are marked on the base with the green Shelley maker’s mark, a c for the Oxford shape and pattern number 12573. The set was made circa 1930 in Staffordshire, England and still has it’s original Shelley factory label and tags attached.

2 Tea Cups – 7cm tall and 11cm wide including the handle.

2 Saucers – 14 cm diameter

2 Plates is 16cm diameter

Description

The collector societies for Shelley china are worldwide, from it’s 1827 inception to the close of the pottery in 1966 it’s china has been a firm favourite in homes. Based in Staffordshire, the pottery crafted thin translucent, yet strong china items in thousands of different patterns, noted by number and sometimes by name.
