‘WETLEY CHINA’ is the trade name of Sampson Smith, manufacturer of fine china at Longton in Staffordshire. c.1846-1963. They produced beautiful hand decorated tea sets typical of the era, this set dates to 1925. This large bowl is fully decorated with a solid green band, wild game birds and gilded bows and swags. Pattern #  9283. 

Bowl 8.5 cm high x 15 cm diameter

Lovely condition, a minute amount of glaze craze stops it pinging but displays well with little if any wear to the gilding.

Mr. Sampson Smith (china manufacturer, Longton, Staffordshire) was represented in London by R. Green & Sons, 31 St. Bride-street, who show samples of all his principal productions in tea and breakfast sets. ‘WETLEY CHINA’ is the trade name used by Sampson Smith for it’s manufacture of fine china.
